The Pharmacist Behind the Mission

Over a decade of clinical experience, a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, and a firsthand understanding of what the healthcare system gets wrong — that's what drives everything I do.

Dr Q — clinical pharmacist and health educator

About Dr Q

I'm Dr Q — a pharmacist who believes the best medicine is often the one you never have to take.

After years in healthcare, I saw a pattern that troubled me: doctors readily prescribing medication for conditions that could be addressed — and often reversed — with lifestyle modifications. High blood pressure, pre-diabetes, chronic inflammation, poor sleep — so many of these start with how we eat, move, rest, and manage stress.

But here's what my experience as a pharmacist has taught me: every patient is different. Some people are on medications they don't need and can be safely transitioned off with the right lifestyle changes. Others have conditions that require continued medication — but through better nutrition, movement, sleep, and stress management, they can reduce what they take and improve how they feel. And then there are people who aren't on any medication yet but are heading down that path — and for them, prevention is everything.

I founded Live Smart Pharmacy with this balanced philosophy: meet people where they are, understand their unique situation, and help them build habits that give their body the best chance — whether that means getting off medication, taking less of it, or never needing it in the first place.

Today, my mission spans both sides of the equation — intervention and prevention. If you're already on medication, I'll help you work with your healthcare team to explore what lifestyle modifications can do for you. If you want to stay ahead of chronic disease, I'll show you how the choices you make every day can add real years to your life. Either way, the goal is the same: live longer, live healthier, and take only what you truly need.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions people ask most about lifestyle medicine, medication reduction, and what I do.

Can lifestyle changes really reduce the need for medication?

Yes — but every case is different. Some people are on medications they no longer need and can be safely transitioned off through sustained lifestyle changes. Others have conditions that require continued medication, but lifestyle modifications like improved nutrition, regular exercise, quality sleep, and stress management can help them reduce dosages and feel significantly better. And for those not yet on medication, these same habits can prevent the need entirely. The key is a balanced, individualized approach — always working alongside your healthcare provider.

What does Dr Q do as a health educator?

I'm a clinical pharmacist (PharmD) with over a decade of healthcare experience. I work with two groups: people already on medication who want to reduce or eliminate what they take through lifestyle changes, and people who want to prevent chronic disease before it starts. Through the Dr Q Lifespan platform and social media, I share evidence-based strategies covering nutrition, movement, sleep, and stress management — translating complex health science into practical, actionable guidance.

How can I lower my blood pressure without medication?

While you should always work with your doctor, evidence-based lifestyle strategies that can help lower blood pressure include reducing sodium intake, eating more potassium-rich foods, engaging in regular aerobic exercise (at least 150 minutes per week), managing stress through mindfulness or meditation, improving sleep quality, maintaining a healthy weight, and limiting alcohol consumption. I cover these topics in detail through free educational content on social media.

What is Live Smart Pharmacy?

Live Smart Pharmacy is a community pharmacy I founded. It was built on the philosophy of personalized care and health education — going beyond filling prescriptions to help patients understand their health, explore lifestyle modifications, and work toward reducing unnecessary medications.

Is Dr Q Lifespan a substitute for medical advice?

No. Dr Q Lifespan provides educational content about lifestyle modifications and wellness strategies. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult your physician or qualified healthcare provider before making changes to your medication or health regimen. The content is designed to complement — not replace — the guidance of your healthcare team.

What topics does Dr Q cover?

I cover a wide range of evidence-based health topics including nutrition and dietary strategies, physical activity and movement, sleep optimization, stress management, chronic disease prevention, medication awareness, blood pressure and blood sugar management, longevity science, and practical wellness habits you can incorporate into daily life.
